Ah, the summer. Sun, sea, sand and… zombies if GameSpire has anything to do with it. The developer has just released Dead Plague, a new action-packed zombie game for the mobile market.
Dead Plague plants you in the idyllic tropics surrounded by lush blue waters and sandy shorelines. But round every palm tree lurks a zombie baying for blood. Your mission is to retrieve DNA samples from the hordes of undead to send back to your employer, BIOTECH, in the hopes of finding a cure. And also to find out if the unassumingly named but definitely dodgy Research Centre are behind the epidemic.
The single-player campaign challenges you with various timed mini-missions as you roam the linear map, turning zombies into blood salad with your trusty machine gun. Aside from the uzi-type sub you’re equipped with initially, you stumble across assault rifles, sniper rifles, grenades and mines to turn the walking dead into the dead-dead. Ammo is finite, but there are cases of ammo dotted around to top you up. You’ll usually be faced with typical running zombies, but the tougher ‘special’ zombies will appear now and then, as well as the occasional boss to battle.
The controls in Dead Plague utilise a simple twin stick system – use the left of your screen to move, use the right to aim and fire. The game features dynamic weather and lighting which, coupled with the 3D environment, enhances the tropical setting.
If jumping into the zombie apocalypse with guns blazing sounds like your ideal summer, you can download Dead Plague from the App Store and Google Play now.
